My hypothesis is that these older batteries just don’t put out enough power to run the M8 properly. It now feels like I’m able to freely use up to ISO 2500 on it.

I recently migrated my entire photo back catalog to Lightroom Classic. Getting here was a very agonizing process, but I’m very glad it’s done now. I think it will be much better for me going forward.

My Leica M8 has suffered from horizontal banding issues for a while, which bummed me out. I was less inspired to use it. But I discovered tonight that the issue is likely not the shutter or the board at all, but actually the battery. Replacing it appears to have eliminated the issue entirely!

I am thinking of the people of Kaua’i, who welcomed us onto their island and gave us unforgettable experiences. Now, I’ve gone home and they are still there. Power is out. Comms are limited. It’s hot and muggy and there’s no escape. Basic amenities like refrigeration don’t exist. Don’t forget them.

Picked up my car today from the repair shop. On the way home, I stopped by the waterfront to visit the Queen Elizabeth, which I saw last week. My favorite part was hearing the British captain address the passengers and crew over the PA system before departure. Felt like I was going too!
