I visited JBLM with friends today. My first time visiting an active US military base. What struck me is how it’s, at least for the part that I saw, a walled municipality with its own streets, name-brand stores, restaurants, schools, and housing. It feels like a public space, but it’s not. 🪖

In light of Apple reportedly ending Vision Pro development, I’m gonna toss a product idea out there: I don’t want smart glasses. I want glasses with an e-ink display that lets me turn them into sunglasses at the tap of a button on the frame. Full stop. No shitty transitions. That’s the product. 🕶️

We’ve recently added the concept of Mac-assed apps to our lexicon. I’d like to contribute another category of apps and devices: Smart-assed. This describes things that try to out guess the user in unhelpful and annoying ways, like turning down the air conditioning when you place the car in park.

Had my car towed for repairs this morning. While riding in the tow truck, I saw the MS Queen Elizabeth docked at the Seattle waterfront. Since that’s a Cunard vessel, it got me thinking about Titanic: Project 401.

Fun fact: the Brewers originated in Seattle as the Pilots — for one singular season. Their old stadium is a now a Lowes (the one I go to), and there’s a permanent hot dog cart right next to where home plate was. You can get a good Seattle Dog there. 🌭

My Vgate iCar Pro OBDII adapter came in handy today. Was able to isolate a problem in my car to some system relating to fuel pressure. Repair appointment scheduled. Hopefully it’s not too pricey to fix!
